Wedding Catering in Cornwall. Frequently asked questions.

To help you gather information and make informed decisions about catering for your wedding, event or celebration in Cornwall, here are many of the FAQs below:

What services does Miss Tea offer?
Miss Tea offers catering services throughout Cornwall. I can set up a kitchen anywhere you would like, from a venue, a barn, a garden, a marquee, your home, a village hall, a field. All I need is a space to work, whether it be a catering tent, an empty room or barn, a garage, or a fully functioning kitchen. I am able to hire in everything I need to run your day, from an oven to a teaspoon and everything in between.

Where do you cater?
Miss Tea offers catering for weddings and event anywhere in Cornwall, from Land End to Launceston, Penzance to St Ives, Falmouth, Helston, The Lizard, Truro, Flushing, Penryn, Redruth, Camborne, Padstow, Rock, Polzeath, Wadebridge, Bude. Any anywhere in between.

How to I get a quote?
Miss Tea catering has no off the shelf menus, not one in 15 years. So to get a quote I firstly ask you to give me a little idea of the type of food you dream of having at you wedding or event, then I would send you over some menus which I have written for clients previously, with all the prices and costs left on so you can see everything clearly and transparently. After this process, if you like what you see, you are sent my foodie homework, a simple set of questions about your food loves, hates, food memories, from the information I receive from you, a first draft menu and quote is written. From this I can make changes until it’s perfect for you. To book I require a 25% deposit against the food and a 30% deposit against any equipment hire we require.

What are the best wedding catering ideas and tips?
It’s your day – it has to be your way. That is why I love to write menus for each of my clients. Adding personality to your wedding or event is the best way to work. So the inspiration comes from you, of course I’m always happy to help with my knowledge, know how and creativity! This is what makes a great wedding menu, who wants to have the same standard menu at every wedding they go to? Lets mix it up!

Make sure your caterer does everything, from organising the equipment logistics, doing a site visit, understanding your details and timeline, making sure they are fully aware of any guests with allergy requirements, clearing up, packing down and leaving everything tidy for you. Make sure that all the costs are listed so there are no nasty surprises, do they charge corkage (I don’t), do they charge to cut your wedding cake (I don’t), is there a mark up on what their staff are getting paid (no mark up from me), are you benefiting from any supplier discounts like equipment hire (you do with me). Are they insured for product, public and employee liability (I am), are they registered with Cornwall Council and what is their hygiene rating (I am and 5 star), so they have hygiene and allergen awareness qualifications (I do).
